DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) — After deputies discovered a stolen car, the suspects collided with multiple vehicles during a pursuit. A deputy’s vehicle was involved in an additional crash as well.

The Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office reports around 9:50 a.m. on Sunday, Sept. 15, deputies located an unoccupied stolen car in the parking lot of the Kroger on Siebenthaler Avenue. While awaiting backup, the suspects arrived and got into the car.

As a deputy approached the vehicle, the suspects fled, backing into one car and knocking a pedestrian to the ground. The stolen vehicle then pulled forward and hit three more vehicles in the parking lot as well as nearly running over the fallen pedestrian on the ground.

Deputies gave chase, as the pursuit went through parts of Harrison Township, Dayton and Trotwood. The chase ended at John Wolfe Park in Trotwood, where three occupants fled the stolen vehicle and could not be located.

During the pursuit, a deputy was involved in a minor injury crash with a vehicle not involved in the incident. Both the driver of the vehicle and the deputy were transported to the hospital with minor injuries and have since been released.

The fallen pedestrian in the Kroger parking lot was also transported to the hospital with minor injuries.

The incident remains under investigation by the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office.
