FRANKLIN, Ohio (WDTN) — A local woman is being commended for her professional work to locate and bring a missing child to safety.

Amy Cole, dispatcher for the Franklin Division of Police, answered a call on Aug. 15 from the Middletown Division of Police informing her of a missing young girl who was believed to be in Franklin.

According to Franklin Police Adam Colon, the child was believed to have been “with a wanted adult suspect,” who was allegedly not the legal guardian.

Since Franklin authorities were unable to initially locate the child, the dispatcher looked into information that could create any new leads. Through determination, Colon says Cole located a phone number which was not known to authorities before.

Investigators were then able to locate the suspect, which ultimately led to officials bringing the missing child to safety.

“Amy’s tenacity and quick thinking directly contributed to saving this young girl’s life,” said Colon. “Her actions go beyond the call of duty and demonstrate the true meaning of public service. She exemplifies the best of what our department stands for.”

Cole will receive formal public recognition on Sept. 16 during the Franklin City Council meeting.
