    Oakwood appoints first new city manager in 22 years

    OAKWOOD, Ohio ( WDTN ) — The city of Oakwood has selected a new city manager for the first time in more than two decades.

    At the Sept. 16 public meeting, Oakwood City Council voted unanimously to appoint Katie M. Smiddy as the next city manager. Her first official day as city manager will be Nov. 1.

    Smiddy replaces Norbert Klopsch, who has been city manager since April 1, 2002. Klopsch is retiring after more than three decades of service to the city of Oakwood.

    Smiddy was one of 24 candidates who applied for the position. In her previous role, Smiddy served as the finance director for the city of Springdale.

    Smiddy also formerly served as the finance director of the city of Montgomery, CFO of Hamilton County Community Action Agency and held various positions in Butler County.

    Her employment with the city of Oakwood begins Oct. 14.
