    Crews recover body from the Great Miami River

    DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) — First responders recovered a person from a river in Dayton Tuesday morning.

    According to the Montgomery County Regional Dispatch Center, crews were dispatched shortly before 7:30 a.m. to the 600 block of West Monument Avenue, near Code Credit Union, on report of a possible water rescue.

    According to the dispatch center, a deceased individual was recovered from the water.

    Our 2 NEWS crew spoke to a sergeant on scene who said that a fisherman called emergency services about the person in the water. Fire crews arrived on scene after the call and pulled the individual out the water.

    According to the sergeant, after a preliminary investigation, there is no sign of trauma to the deceased.

    The coroner’s office is at the scene according to our 2 NEWS crew. The coroner’s office will continue to investigate the precise cause of death.

    The incident is being investigated by the Dayton Police Department, Five Rivers MetroParks, and the Montgomery County Coroner’s Office.
