DAYTON, Ohio ( WDTN ) — The Montgomery County Animal Resource Center is encouraging pet owners to purchase licenses and microchips.

For Responsible Dog Ownership Month, the area agency is reminding people to renew their dog licenses as well as to consider getting a microchip for your furry companion.

Licenses are required by law in the state of Ohio and are to be renewed annually. Licenses can be purchased at the Animal Resource Center, the Auditor’s Office or online . If your dog has been spayed or neutered, the price for a license will cost $20, otherwise the price increases to $24.

    Microchips are available for $25.

If your pet becomes lost, they allow us or anyone who finds them to quickly connect your pet to you, 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Should your dog’s collar or tag fall off, the microchip acts as a permanent back-up solution. Together, they provide owners peace of mind, knowing they’ve done everything possible to protect their furry family members.
