FAIRBORN, Ohio ( WDTN ) — Parents have been notified that a student brought a “replica gun” into a Fairborn classroom last week.

Fairborn Intermediate School Principal Tammy Gendreau sent a letter to parents on Tuesday regarding a student bringing a fake weapon to school.

Tecumseh student apprehended after making school threat

In the letter, Gendreau explains that the building administration was notified that a student brought a replica gun to school last week. After speaking with students, it was determined that the student did not have the weapon on Tuesday, but did bring it last week.

The student was taken out of class and will not return to school pending the investigation. Gendreau says there is a recommendation for expulsion.

Gendreau says the school has safety plans in place in order to handle situations like this quickly and effectively.

She also reminds parents that this is a good time to discuss school policies with their children. The district has a strict no weapons policy on school grounds for the safety of students and staff.

This is just one incident involving a student threatening a school in the past week. In Sidney, a student was arrested for threatening a shooting . In Huber Heights, a student was detained for bringing a weapon to school .
