Teens crash stolen car, causing multiple injuries

DAYTON, Ohio ( WDTN ) — Multiple people were injured after teens crashed a stolen car early Friday morning.

According to the Dayton Police Department, officers were sent out to a crash just before 2 a.m. on Sept. 20. The crash occurred at the intersection of East Fourth Street and South Philadelphia Street.

Upon arrival, crews found a Kia Forte had been traveling 85 miles per hour through the intersection and hit a GMC Sierra pickup truck. The Kia then collided into two parked vehicles.

As officers investigated, they discovered the Kia had been stolen out of another jurisdiction. A 16-year-old was driving, along with a 15-year-old in the passenger seat. Both sustained injuries in the crash.

The 16-year-old male was transported to an area hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries. The 15-year-old male ran away from the scene but later arrived at an area hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries as well.

Both teenagers were arrested for receiving stolen property.

The driver of the GMC truck, a 34-year-old man, was also sent to the hospital for non-life-threatening injuries.

DPD’s Traffic Services Unit is handling the crash investigation, while the stolen car is being investigated by the neighboring jurisdiction in which it originated from.
