Ohio Task Force 1 announces deployment

DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) — Ohio Task Force 1 is leaving Ohio to assist the Federal Emergency Management Agency.

According to the group, 82 members are being deployed to Florida on Sept. 24 at 3 p.m. in preparation of Tropical Storm Helene. Crews will be in Florida for staging, as a specific destination has yet to be announced.

“The early activation of OH-TF1 will put them in a better position to respond to affected areas if state/local officials request assistance,” said Ohio Task Force 1.

Helene is expected to become a major hurricane in the Gulf of Mexico.
