DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) — The next Ryan Coogler film dropped its first trailer yesterday and with it, the “Black Panther” director teases a new direction.

The film has been anticipated for months, with a reported bidding war over the film taking place earlier this year. As that was happening, Michael B. Jordan, a frequent collaborator of Coogler’s, was announced as the film’s lead actor .

On April 13, cinematographer Autumn Durald Arkapaw posted a photo from set on Instagram, signaling the start of production for the film, which at the time was known as “Grilled Cheese”.

The trailer debuted yesterday , unveiling the first images from Coogler’s horror film, an official title, “Sinners” and an imposing tagline: “You keep dancing with the devil, one day he’s gonna follow you home.”

The trailer also confirms that Jordan will be playing a dual-role. According to IMDB , the film is about twin brothers (Jordan) who encounter an evil presence after returning to their hometown.

Hailee Steinfeld, Delroy Lindo and Jack O’Connell are set to star alongside Jordan.

Artisans behind the camera include Arkapaw, with musical compositions provided by Ludwing Goransson, editing by Michael P. Shawver, costumes designed by Ruth E. Carter and production design by Wright State University alum Hannah Beachler.

The film is scheduled for release on March 7, 2025.
