DAYTON, Ohio ( WDTN ) — Public Health will spray mosquitos after West Nile Virus was detected in tested mosquito traps.

Public Health Dayton and Montgomery County’s mosquito control program detected mosquitos positive for West Nile Virus. Despite the positive mosquito cases, there have been no reported human cases of West Nile so far in Montgomery County.

Public Health will spray the area surrounding Thurgood Marshall High School and Benham’s Grove on Wednesday, Sept. 25, weather permitting.

It is not uncommon for mosquitos to test positive. Out of an abundance of caution, Public Health has chosen to spray the two above areas in Dayton and Centerville, using “Duet,” an adulticide mosquito control product.

The specific areas that will be sprayed include:

Dayton – Thurgood Marshall High School

    • High School parking lots
    • Beerman Ave
    • Gardendale Ave
    • Elmhurst Rd
    • Guenther Rd

    Centerville – Benham’s Grove

    • Benham’s Grove
    • Maple Ave (from Lakeview to Franklin)
    • N. Johanna Dr
    • East Dr
    • Benzell Dr
    • Broadripple Rd

Residents in the area should be advised that people and pets can be outside while spraying occurs. The mist will dissipate within five to 30 minutes depending on the weather.
