    Millions of dollars awarded to Miami Valley schools

    DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) — The Governor’s office announced that 34 schools are set to earn grant funding, including some here in the Miami Valley.

    The awards will be given through the Career Technical Education Equipment Grant Program. The funding aims to increase access to technical education and career skills for 6,330 students across the state.

    Of the 34 schools, five schools in the Miami Valley are set to receive an award. In total $5,311,347.50 was provided to those five schools alone.

    School and County School Program Receiving Funding Grant received
    Butler Technology and Career Development Schools in Butler County. Advanced Manufacturing, Healthcare. $1,963,096.00.
    Yellow Springs Exempted Village in Greene County. Software Development. $271,434.00.
    Huber Heights City Schools in Montgomery County. Engineering. $2,037,630.00.
    Dayton Regional STEM School in Montgomery County. Health Science, Engineering. $1,019,500.00.
    National Trail Local School District in Preble County. Engineering, Agriculture. $19,687.50.

    “The second round of the Career Technical Education Equipment Grant will offer even more students hands-on experience and educational opportunities in a variety of in-demand, high-wage pathways,” said Ohio Department of Education and Workforce Director Stephen D. Dackin.

    The first round of applicants, 57 schools total, received right under $70 million in funding in March.
