CLINTON COUNTY, Ohio (WDTN) — The site of a longtime closed hospital in Clinton County is set to undergo an evaluation for contamination.

Gov. Mike DeWine announced Friday the Clinton County Port Authority will receive $300,000 to evaluate an inoperative hospital in Wilmington, which has been vacant for more than 60 years. According to the CCPA, the site sits behind Clinton Memorial Hospital , an operational hospital in Wilmington.

A Clinton Memorial Hospital spokesperson told 2 NEWS Hale Hospital is a “separate structure that sits on the hospital property.”

According to DeWine, Hale Hospital needs to have environmental assessments conducted for to look at potential contamination.

“With every project, we are reclaiming Ohio’s rich history and reimagining it for a brighter future,” said Lydia Mihalik, director of Ohio Department of Development.

This is the fifth round of funding for projects across Ohio for remediation projects.
