DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) — Duke Energy is sending some of its crews to Florida.

According to Duke Energy, crews from Indiana, Kentucky and Ohio are preparing to help Florida recover from the effects of Hurricane Helene. Crews are being sent to four locations in the Sunshine State.

Duke crews in the following fields are being deployed:

    Damage assessors Support personnel
    Power line technicians Vegetation workers

“As the storm approaches, these skilled individuals are being strategically placed across the state, enabling them to respond as quickly as possible to widespread power outages that are expected as a result of strong winds and heavy rainfall,” said Duke Energy.

Power restoration will begin once conditions become safe.

AES Ohio Director of Communications Mary Ann Kabel told 2 NEWS that AES Ohio is not sending crews, but will in the future if additional resources are requested.
