DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) — It’s official! The Miami Valley still remains in desperate need of some rainfall.

The U.S. Drought Monitor once again shows drought conditions have not improved in the Dayton area.

During the week of Sept. 19 , the U.S. Drought Monitor showed portions of Champaign, Clark, Clinton, Greene, Logan, Miami, Montgomery and Warren in an extreme drought. An update from the organization shows the same eight remaining, plus the addition of Butler County.

Storm Team 2 is tracking rain, which will be brought to the area as a part of Hurricane Helene’s remnants.

The National Weather Service in Wilmington believes the next drought map will look “significantly different” because of the upcoming precipitation.
