DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) — More than four years ago, 18-year-old Nascia Goodwin was shot and killed in Dayton.

With her case still unsolved, Miami Valley Crime Stoppers is offering a $10,000 cash reward to get the suspect behind bars.

“I agonize a lot of times. I cry. It’s hard not to be, you know, emotional. I loved Cia. I love Cia so much,” says Ester Goodwin, Nascia’s grandmother.

The two shared a special bond. Nascia was Ester’s first granddaughter.

“She had a good heart,” describes Ester. “She’s very loving, very loving and kind.”

In the early hours of August 26, 2020, someone fatally shot Nascia. Her body was found in a grassy area at 926 Gard Avenue near Germantown Street.

“There are no suspects at this point. No,” says Detective Elizabeth Alley.

More than four years later, the Dayton Police Department Cold Case Unit is still working the case.

“These cases do get solved at times. They are definitely solved on tips that come in and that’s why we’re hoping that someone can bring forth some information to bring some closure for the family,” states Detective Alley.

That’s why Crime Stoppers is stepping up to offer a $10,000 reward for information that leads to an arrest or conviction in Nascia’s murder.

“Anything is super helpful, no matter how minor it is. It could be something to help solve the case,” reiterates Detective Alley.

Nascia’s grandmother is hoping the money will be enough for someone to come forward, helping give he peace.

“I hope it can be solved sooner. Really. Yes. It’s been a long time. And there’s a lot of people that I think know,” says Ester. “My closure is just knowing what happened to her actually.”
