DAYTON, Ohio ( WDTN ) — The remnants of Helene aren’t stopping Tipp City’s annual Mum Festival. Organizers announced the festival will go on rain or shine on social media.

One vendor 2 NEWS spoke with says that she’s been coming here for years, saying a little bit of weather like this wasn’t going to stop her from coming back.

“You know what? I’m going to do it and we’ll tie the tent down and we’ll open the trailer for people to shop in. And so we decided we’re going to do it,” said Paula Monnin, Owner of Bella’s Boutique.

“I love the Mum Festival and I mean, I live close and I have people that buy from me around this area. And it’s just a fun festival,” Monnin.

Even with high winds and heavy rain barreling down on the Miami Valley, organizers made the decision that the festival, parade and mum run will go on as planned this weekend.

“We know weather is a bit of an issue this year. Unfortunately, it’s beyond our control, but our vendors are coming out. We intend to still go forward, rain or shine,” said Bill House, Mum Festival President.

It’s estimated around five to 10,000 people attend the mum festival each year. Another reason why the weather won’t stop the community from coming together.

“It has been a tradition for many years in Tipp City. Everybody comes out, enjoys herself, has food, entertainment,” said Kathy Taylor, Mum Festival Vice President.

The parade will also go on as scheduled and vendors will open up their booths for people to come and look around, starting at 10 a.m. on Saturday and running through Sunday.
