SIDNEY, Ohio ( WDTN ) — Sidney residents will see two levies on the ballot when casting their votes this election season.

Our partners at Sidney Daily News report both are income tax levies proposing a 0.25 percent increase in taxes onto the 1.5 percent city taxes in place now.

The first levy is for the city’s police and fire department. Money cannot be used for building and instead would go towards salaries, benefits, training and equipment.

The second focuses on street improvements and would include construction, reconstruction, resurfacing, and maintenance.

If both levies pass, the total city tax will go up to 2 percent. If only one passes, the total will rise to 1.75 percent and if none passes the city tax will stay the same.
