DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) — The Dayton Police Department is warning of a potential phone scam.

The department says that the fraudulent call looks as if its coming from their office and that the scammer uses the name of a Dayton Police officer to identify themselves.

The scammer tells the receiver that there is a warrant out for their arrest and that financial compensation is required.

The Dayton Police Department will never ask for financial compensation through any means over the phone. If you receive a call like this, hang up and report it to 937-333-2677.
