WEST CARROLLTON, Ohio (WDTN) — Senior night was a special one for Gavin Hardy.

Hardy, a special needs student at West Carrollton High School, usually serves as Team Manager for the Pirates’ soccer team.

Monday night was a different story as Hardy took to the pitch for the first time in his high school career, scoring the first goal for the Pirates, amongst cheers from family and friends.

“It’s pretty exciting. The school’s done a really good job taking care of him,” Gary Hardy said of his son. “His past coach tried to get him on the field but he wouldn’t do it. This current coach got him out there and it’s really nice seeing the boys take good care of him.”

Once he graduates in the spring, Gavin will work with his dad at “Brunners Lawn and Landscaping”.
