    Alert: Centerville PD warns of new scam

    CENTERVILLE, Ohio ( WDTN ) — The Centerville Police Department is warning residents of a new scam to be on the lookout for.

    Centerville PD has been made aware of a new scam circulating in the community. Reports say the scammer will call residents, posing as “Investigator Tyler Wilson,” who is investigating a case about stolen makeup.

    Increased trooper presence expected on I-70 this weekend

    Do not respond if you receive texts or calls of this nature. Police urge you to contact the department to verify its authenticity.

    But, Centerville PD says, police will never contact you through texting or calling for anything relating to money.

    “As a reminder, law enforcement will NEVER contact you by phone or text demanding payment for outstanding fines, etc.,” said Centerville PD.

    If you receive a call or text like this, you are asked to report the incident to your local law enforcement.
