Police investigating after body found near Dayton men’s shelter

DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) — A man has been identified after being found deceased by police on Saturday, Oct. 5.

The man was identified by the Montgomery County Coroner’s Office as Russell Henderson, 54.

According to Dayton Police, police found the man on the 1900 block of South Gettysburg, near St. Vincent de Paul Gateway Shelter for Men. Officers were dispatched before 2:30 p.m. on report of a deceased person in the area.

The man was reported missing on Sept. 1, 2024.

According to the Montgomery County Regional Dispatch Center, Ohio Landsar Search and Rescue as well as the Dayton Fire Department were on scene to assist.

The Dayton Police Department is continuing to investigate the incident.
