    Badly decomposed body found at abandoned car wash in west Columbus

    COLUMBUS, Ohio ( WCMH )  – A badly decomposed body was found inside of a car wash on the far west side of the city late Wednesday night.

    According to Columbus police, officers were called to an abandoned car wash in the Georgesville Square Shopping Plaza, on Holt Road off Georgesville Road, after receiving reports of a body inside the car wash.

    Police found a badly decomposed body inside one of the car wash bays. At 10:51 p.m., the Franklin County Coroner’s Office arrived at the scene and confirmed it was human remains and homicide detectives are investigating the scene.

    A cause of death will not likely be available until an autopsy is conducted and the identity of the person will be released once positive identification is gained and next of kin notified.

    The former Super Wash car wash has a chain link fence surrounding the property, which has been abandoned for several years.
