    Blight removal scheduled for Dayton’s Five Oaks neighborhood

    DAYTON, Ohio ( WDTN ) — Overgrown brush and vegetation will be removed from over 90 vacant properties in a local neighborhood.

    Following City Commission approval of a Dayton Recovery Plan-funded contract, work is expected to begin soon on clearing overgrown vegetation from 92 vacant properties in the Five Oaks neighborhood.

    The $119,600 contract was awarded to Risner’s Tree Services. Crews with the company will begin blight removal of the area soon, according to the City of Dayton.

    This contract is part of the improvement goals of the Dayton Recovery Plan, which has set aside a total of $55 million to invest in neighborhoods around Dayton. Funded activities include infrastructure improvements, demolition, housing repair/rehab, and small business support.
