DAYTON, Ohio ( WDTN ) — A fire at a home with no one living in it is being investigated as suspicious.

The Dayton Fire Department was called to a house fire that broke out on Clover Street just after midnight on Saturday, Oct. 12.

Bridge over I-75 will be closed until Fall 2025

Crews were able to extinguish the fire in under an hour, but neighbors said there might be people inside. After a thorough search, no one was found.

The district fire chief told 2 NEWS, this isn’t the first fire at this location.

“We did have a previous fire at this house a few months ago,” said Matt McClain, DFD. “Neighbors report there have been some people coming and going through the house, perhaps some squatters.”

There’s been no determination at this time on what caused the fire, but the DFD is investigating the incident as suspicious.

2 NEWS previously reported a fire at the same house on July 23 of this year. The house was vacant at the time of that fire as well.
