DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) — The cold front has now cleared the Miami Valley and soon to follow will be the chilliest air of the season so far. A large Canadian high pressure system is now sinking southward into the Upper Plains.

A chilly air mass will start to arrive overnight and during the day on Monday bringing temperatures that will run 10 to 15 degrees below average–quite a shock from the very mild weekend temperatures. While Monday will be dry, a weak passing disturbance will move across the Miami Valley Monday night and Tuesday and could spark a shower or two.

TONIGHT: Partly cloudy and much colder. Low 46

MONDAY: Mostly cloudy and unseasonably cool. High 57

MONDAY NIGHT: Mostly cloudy with a chance of a shower after midnight. Low 40

TUESDAY: Mostly cloudy with a shower or two possible, mainly in the morning. Continued unseasonably cool. High 53

If you’re hoping for a quick temperature rebound, it won’t come Wednesday as highs will once again be limited to the lower 50s. Scattered frost will be likely in the morning as the mercury drops into the mid 30s. The chance of frost will extend into both Thursday and Friday mornings with similar morning lows. Temperatures will moderate by the end of the week with highs on Friday in the upper 60s before warming into the 70s over the weekend.
