MASON, Ohio (WDTN) — For this year’s “Saved by the Belt” event, the Ohio State Highway Patrol partnered with a local amusement park to recognize seatbelt safety.

The program recognizes the use of a seatbelt when involved in a traffic crash.

In a ceremony for the 9 recipients, each received a framed “Saved by the Belt” certificate, license plate and bracket.

Kings Island surprised recipients with a one-day admission ticket to the park. The ceremony was held there as well.

The 9 recipients include the following:

    • Dustin Akers, 27, Proctorville
    • Reba L. Gilbert, 71, Dayton
    • Bobbi Gilkerson, 17, Lebanon
    • Elaine P. Halterman, 38, Urbana
    • Chase Lambert, 18, Lebanon
    • Curtis Blake Payne, 25, Beaver
    • Sarah VanDyke, 23, Zanesfield
    • Timothy W. Walker, 46, Milford
    • Wanda L. Walters, 88, Huber Heights
