SPRINGFIELD, Ohio ( WDTN ) — Police in Springfield are investigating a suspicious package.

According to Springfield Police Division, authorities were called to the 800 block of East McCreight Ave. for a suspicious package around 3:40 p.m. on Tuesday. The Dayton Bomb Squad was also called to the scene to investigate.

Law enforcement sectioned off the area around Lagonda Elementary School where a small Amazon package was sitting on a grassy area.

A nearby resident looked upon the scene with concern.

“It really made me worry because I used to go to school there. I really just want to make sure the school is fine and everyone in the school is fine,” said Dylan Collum.

A robot was utilized by the bomb squad to determine the package was not a threat.

All of this comes just over a month since bomb threats began in Springfield, and nerves are still running high. For some, living in this constant state of anxiety has their patience running thin.

“It’s definitely… Just irritating. It’s just shutting down buildings, schools, it’s using up our resources and the city’s. I’m pretty sure everyone’s just sick of it and wants it to go away,” said Springfield resident Aidan Raymond.

There have been more than 33 bomb threats in Springfield in the last month. While there was no bomb threat today, that stretch of time has left an impression on the city’s residents.
