Troy to host public hearing on marijuana following ban recommendation

TROY, Ohio ( WDTN ) — Troy citizens will have the chance to have their voices heard regarding marijuana operators in their city.

On Monday, Nov. 4, a hearing will be scheduled during the city council’s regular meeting to allow residents to share their opinions on whether or not cannabis operators should be banned.

Cannabis operators include cultivators, processors, or dispensaries. At this time, no such businesses exist within city limits.

This follows a total ban recommendation from the Troy Planning Commission on Oct. 9. The city council’s Community & Economic Development Committee voted to postpone a recommendation on Oct. 14, so that a public hearing could be held at the Nov. 4 meeting.

City residents are encouraged to attend the hearing to register their opinions. Those who cannot attend but wish to register their opinions may also submit comments on the city’s website .

Residents may also send a letter via U.S. mail to the clerk of council at 100 South Market Street, 45373; message the city through social media, or NextDoor accounts; or call the mayor’s office at (937) 335-1725.

Information including name, physical and email address, and phone number must be included on any submittals so city staff may follow up if necessary.

The hearing will take place at 7 p.m. in city council chambers, located on the second floor of city hall at 100 South Market Street.
