Sidney City Council adopts new noise ordinance, resolutions

SIDNEY, Ohio ( WDTN ) — At a recent meeting, a local city council unanimously adopted a new noise ordinance and also discussed increasing contract costs for services to nearby townships.

According to our partners at the Sidney Daily News, at a meeting on Monday, Sidney City Council adopted a new noise ordinance that removes the decibel level. They say this will allow for easier enforcement of the noise ordinance code.

Three new resolutions also unanimously passed at Monday’s meeting, including:

• Splitting five current lots in Mill Creek into 11 new lots
• Reappointing Erik Edwards to the Community Reinvestment Area Housing Council
• Appointing Fort Loramie Mayor Randy Ahlers as the municipal representative to the Shelby County 911 Program Review Committee

At the meeting, Sidney Fire Chief Chad Hollinger discussed township contract renewals related to services provided by Sideny to Clinton, Orange and Franklin Townships.

Current contracts originated in the 1970s and are recommended to increase by 7 percent each year to cover actual costs. Hollinger says data shows an increase in costs over the last five years.
