    15 new officers sworn in to Dayton Police Department

    DAYTON, Ohio ( WDTN ) — On Thursday, 15 Dayton Police Academy recruits were sworn into the Dayton Police Department.

    These officers were part of the 116th recruit class. Each took their oath at a swearing-in ceremony Thursday morning. A graduation ceremony will be held on Friday, Oct. 18.

    Upon graduation, the officers will be assigned to field training for 20 weeks and will receive nearly 2,000 hours of training at the academy and through field training before patrol duties.

    In a post on social media, Dayton Police & Fire shared the news, saying in part:

    It’s been a long journey to get to this point but it’s a big day for all of them. Congratulations on becoming Dayton Police Department Officers.
