    ODOT warns of ‘big impact’ to traffic Sunday

    MONROE, Ohio (WDTN) — Drivers traveling through a portion of the Miami Valley this weekend should prepare for “long delays.”

    The Ohio Department of Transportation is alerting drivers that a large transformer will begin moving around 7:30 a.m. on Oct. 20 from Traders World on State Route 63 in Monroe.

    “The load measures 306 feet long, 16’6” wide, and 16’2” tall,” said ODOT. “It weighs 752,216 pounds.”

    Troopers from the Ohio State Highway Patrol will escort the transformer from the flea market on the following route:

    • Eastbound on SR 63 to SR 741
    • Turn south to I-71
    • Travel north on I-71
    • Exit at SR 48
    • South on SR 48 to Foster-Maineville Road
    • Turn west to Sibcy Road
    • Turn north on Butterworth Road
    • Arrive at the substation

    During the day, commuters could experience a “big impact” to traffic, according to ODOT. A rolling roadblock will occur was the transformer moves its way through Warren County, which will cause long delays.

    An end time for the the load to reach its destination is currently unknown.
