1 killed, 2 injured in Champaign County crash

CONCORD TWP., Ohio ( WDTN ) — One person is dead and two people flown to the hospital after a head-on crash Saturday morning.

The Champaign County Sheriff’s Office reports a 911 call was received around 11:10 a.m. on Oct. 19 regarding a traffic crash in the area of N. State Route 560 at Church Road.

Upon arrival, deputies found two vehicles had collided head-on, both spinning off the roadway into a nearby field.

One vehicle was a 2005 GMC pickup truck, that landed on its side, trapping two occupants. Both individuals were extricated by fire and EMS crews before being flown to the hospital.

The other vehicle was a 2006 Chevrolet pickup, with a single driver inside. That driver was pronounced dead on scene. Their identify will be withheld until family can be properly notified.

Alongside deputies from the sheriff’s office, the Multi-County Joint Crash Investigation Team, St. Paris JSP Fire/EMS, West Liberty Fire/EMS, Macochee Joint Ambulance District, and Rosewood Fire/EMS were immediately sent to the scene.

This incident remains under investigation.
