AUSTIN, Texas — Texas Comptroller Glenn Hegar has announced the annual Sales Tax Holiday, set for August 9-11, 2024, allowing shoppers to purchase qualifying items tax-free. The tax-free weekend applies to most clothing, footwear, school supplies, and backpacks sold for less than $100, whether bought in-store or online from Texas-based sellers. The red brick walls of First Baptist Dallas Church's historic sanctuary are soot-singed and intact, but only devastation and ashes are found within. At 6:05 pm, the Dallas Fire-Rescue received a call for 1717 San Jacinto street in the heart of downtown Dallas. A second alarm was requested at 6:20 pm. The fire was contained until 7:35 pm when the roof partially collapsed and a third alarm was called. Finally, a fourth alarm was called at 8:14 pm, according to CBS5 News.
