WEATHERLY, CARBON COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU)— One man has been charged with fleeing and evading police after a pursuit on Friday.

According to a release from the Weatherly Police Department, Michael Allen, 26, of Weatherly refused to exit the vehicle and denied a ride back to his residence after he was found to be driving on a suspended license.

A tow truck was called, but Allen then fled in the vehicle where he was pursued through town while driving erratically, police noted.

Officials say Allen then fled into Beaver Meadows Borough where the chase was called off because of safety to the public and officers.

Police confirm that Allen’s vehicle was later found abandoned by Hazleton City Police and had damage to the front bumper and driver side wheel.

Officers later found Allen and he was taken into custody by Weatherly Police Department and transported to the Carbon County Correction Facility.

Allen has been charged with a felony charge of Fleeing an Officer, a misdemeanor of Resisting Arrest, and a misdemeanor of Obstruction of Justice among other charges according to the release.

A preliminary hearing has been scheduled for July 31.
