During the July 13 episode of Collision, which had been pre-taped earlier in the week, Dalton Castle would be knocked out by a jumping knee from Roderick Strong. And while it wasn’t too obvious to viewers at home, the match’s finish had to be heavily edited as Castle was down for several minutes.

Subsequently, Tony Khan made the unfortunate announcement on X that the flashy wrestler would be out for the rest of 2024, with many fans online speculating he’d suffered a concussion. However, Dave Meltzer has now reported during a recent episode of Wrestling Observer Radio that the former ROH champion had actually suffered a torn biceps.

“Torn biceps, that was the deal with the surgery and everything.”

38-year-old Castle, real name Brett Giehl, broke into the pro wrestling business in 2009 after getting involved in the sport via amateur wrestler. His big break would eventually come in 2015 when he made his television debut for ROH. Here, he became a regular performer and established himself enough to become the promotion’s champion within just two years by defeating Cody Rhodes. Yet while it’s understood he was injured during much of his reign, he would still hold the belt for six months, successfully defending it against Marty Scurll, Jay Lethal, and EVIL, to name just some of his challengers.
