Recently, it was disclosed that Penta El Zero Miedo’s AEW contract was expiring in the coming months, and WWE was interested in hiring him. Subsequently, Penta confirmed during an interview that his deal was running out during an interview and added that if WWE wanted to offer him something, he would evaluate it as it would be his last big contract. And now, in the news that probably should have been anticipated, considering the duo signed for AEW at the same time, Fightful Select has confirmed his brother Rey Fénix could also be set to become a free agent.

“Earlier this year it was reported that Penta’s AEW contract is set to expire this year, and that he has interest from WWE. However, we’re told that he’s not the only one, as his Lucha Bros. teammate Rey Fenix also sees his contract expire this year.”

33-year-old Fénix made his name in AAA, Lucha Underground, and Impact Wrestling before signing a non-exclusive AEW contract with his brother Penta in 2019. The Lucha Brothers, as they are collectively known, would establish themselves as one of the top tag teams in the company and ultimately won the AEW World Tag Team Championship from the Young Bucks in a steel cage match at All Out 2021. Additionally, they formed the Death Triangle faction alongside British wrestler Pac, and together, they were the second AEW World Trios Champions after The Elite were stripped of the titles.
