Tony Khan Calls Current AEW Storyline “Some Of The Best Work We’ve Ever Done”

One of the criticisms AEW regularly faces from those who don’t watch the product is that the promotion lacks storylines. And while this is obviously inaccurate, it is still frequently used as a stick to beat Tony Khan with on social media. However, while being interviewed on the Brian & Kenzie Morning Show , Khan pointed out that AEW does have storylines, proudly noting that the current feud between Toni Storm and Mariah May is “ some of the best work we’ve ever done. ”

“There’s times when you’re really gonna build to something, and I think the things we’ve been doing with Toni and Mariah recently on AEW television, probably some of the best work we’ve ever done, and I think it’s really exciting.”

For those who don’t watch AEW, the Storm and May storyline commenced at the end of 2023 when May signed with the company and became Storm’s “ understudy .” From there, the two would become inseparable, with Storm’s protege even wearing her old ring gear as a tribute. However, after May won the Owen Hart Foundation Tournament, which guaranteed the winner a championship match at All In, May viciously attacked her mentor Storm, who is the current AEW Women’s Champion.
