Bryan Danielson is one of AEW’s biggest stars, having joined the company the same year he headlined WrestleMania 37 against Roman Reigns and Edge. However, his AEW run has been continuously interrupted due to various injuries, including a broken arm and a broken orbital bone.

And now, in troubling news, he has disclosed to Jim Ross during an interview on this week’s Collision that he likely needs neck surgery, saying, “ Odds are, I’m going to have to get neck surgery before the end of this year .” Whether the necessity for neck surgery is due to years of wear and tear or a specific bump isn’t clear, although it is understood he hurt his neck while performing a Frankensteiner on Will Ospreay at AEW’s Dynasty pay-per-view.

It’s been known for some time that 43-year-old Danielson planned to go part-time once his AEW contract expired, previously revealing that this would mean wrestling only five to ten matches annually. Obviously, this is disappointing for fans who enjoy watching the former WWE Champion in action. Still, given how he has been plagued by injuries over the past decade, it is likely for the best and will almost certainly extend his career.
