John 5 Shares “Scary” Opinion On The State Of Rock

When legacy rock bands like AC/DC and The Rolling Stones finally call it a career, it will undoubtedly leave a huge hole in the rock scene. KISS and Aerosmith are the latest among legendary rock acts to call it a career from the touring stage (though if they’re going to stay away for good is debatable.)

Mötley Crüe aren’t exactly spring chickens themselves, and the band’s newest member pondered the state of rock ’n’ roll recently in an interview with Jeremy White. “It’s very strange, because all these bands, they’re slowly going away,” John 5 said (as transcribed by Ultimate Guitar .) “And it’s totally scary to me because we have good rock ‘n’ roll. But we need more good rock ‘n’ roll. We need more bands to come out there. We need more bands to say, you know, ‘Look at me!’ I can’t wait to see new rocks. We need them because they’re going away.”

Unsurprisingly, John 5 is OK with bands continuing even after losing key members. “I’m speaking as a fan,” he said. “I would love to see AC/DC one more time. I would love to see… I mean, incredible. Just take The Rolling Stones. What if, when Brian Jones died, what if The Stones were like, ‘That’s it. No more Rolling Stones.’ We’d have a few records. Unbelievable, huh?”

John 5 also cited Queen as having a lengthy resurgence since recruiting singer Adam Lambert. “Music is about having a great time and forgetting about life for a while,” he said. “That’s what you’re supposed to do; you’re supposed to enjoy the music.”
