James Drake and Zack Gibson, collectively known as The Grizzled Young Veterans, debuted for AEW during the April 27 episode of Collision, losing to The Acclaimed. Yet, while they impressed in the match, things have been quiet regarding their long-term futures since then. However, now during a Fightful Select Q&A session , Sean Ross Sapp has reported that the tag team specialists weren’t signed because the two sides “ were far apart on money. ”

Drake and Gibson were the inaugural NXT UK Tag Team Champions and looked set to be big stars in NXT once they moved to the US. But, once WWE strictly began enforcing their policy on owing the names of talents, both men would be re-named and repacked as The Dyad as part of Joe Gacy’s bizarre Schism stable.

Still, despite appearing regularly on television, the duo were unhappy with their new gimmick and asked for their releases, which were declined. Nevertheless, the pair wouldn’t change their minds and instead waited for their contracts to expire in order to depart.
