After receiving his big break in pro wrestling by commentating on New Japan shows broadcast in the US, Mauro Ranallo joined WWE and was soon considered one of the best announcers in the world. Yet, his WWE run was sadly affected by his mental health struggles, which caused him to miss work and eventually depart the company.

However, the 54-year-old Canadian has finally returned to the business, with Scott D’Amore’s new promotion, Maple Leaf Pro Wrestling, announcing on social media that he will be the voice of the company.

For those unaware, Maple Leaf Pro Wrestling was initially formed in 1930 by Jack Corcoran, although John and Frank Tunney took over in 1939. Subsequently, some of the biggest names of the time would compete for the promotion, including The Sheik, Ric Flair, Fritz Von Erich, Bruno Sammartino, and Haystack Calhoun. Still, despite working with the National Wrestling Alliance and Mid-Atlantic Wrestling for many years, John Tunney’s son, Jack, would eventually partner with the WWF in 1984, which famously led to him becoming the promotions figurehead and on-air president.
