In 2020, it was announced that Netflix had agreed a deal with WWE for a docuseries on the life of their then-head honcho, Vince McMahon. However, after all the subsequent scandals in McMahon’s life, some thought the project would be delayed indefinitely or possibly even scrapped. Yet, Netflix has now confirmed that the series produced by Chris Smith, who directed Fyre: The Greatest Party That Never Happened, is being released under the name “Mr. McMahon” and will begin streaming on September 25.

79-year-old McMahon’s world began to fall apart when it was made public that he had been making substantial hush money payments to women between 2006 and 2022. This would subsequently see the billionaire announce his retirement, although he returned just six months later, with many believing he was never really gone. Still, once Janel Grant filed her lawsuit and her horrific allegations became known to the masses, he realistically had no other option but to depart again, as sponsors were threatening to cut ties with WWE.
