Legendary Luchador Who Wrestled For WCW Has Passed Away

In sad news, Raymundo Díaz Mendoza Jr., best known to wrestling fans as Villano V until he lost his mask and became Ray Mendoza Jr, has passed away aged 62 or 64, depending on the source. The luchador, who was part of the Los Villanos dynasty, broke into the business in the 70s and adopted his family’s iconic Villano name in 1983 once he had proven himself worthy. He was actually the fourth brother, but due to his younger sibling being ready before him, he would become the fifth and final Villano until the next generation adopted the name.

Mendoza Jr. is best known to North American fans for his three-year run in WCW, where he shared a ring with names like Diamond Dallas Page, Kanyon, Raven, and Booker T. However, the majority of his career was spent in Mexico, where he performed for the UWA, AAA, and CMLL, typically working tag and trio matches with his brothers and holding multiple titles in the process.
