Bronson Reed is currently receiving a significant push on Raw and was likely the favorite to win the triple-threat Intercontinental Championship tournament match against Ludwig Kaiser and Sheamus, announced for tonight’s episode. However, earlier on Monday, it was confirmed that he would miss tonight’s show due to having caught Covid. Therefore, with a spot in the match open, Fightful Select has reported that Braun Strowman is now penciled in to take Reed’s place, although they would note he could be a placeholder.

“WWE’s Adam Pearce said that they’d reveal a replacement, which internally is listed as Braun Strowman. There’s always a chance that he could just be listed as a placeholder, but that’s who internal documents featured as of 6 PM ET.”

36-year-old Reed spent 11 years on the Australian independent circuit, and while he wrestled for NOAH in Japan, his true big break came when he signed a developmental deal with WWE in 2019. From there, he would be booked like a big deal, winning matches against the likes of LA Knight, Austin Theory, and Johnny Gargano, even holding the NXT North American Championship at one point.

Still, just as it appeared he was set to join the main roster, he would be released due to budget cuts, with it speculated at the time that Vince McMahon wasn’t impressed with him. Yet once Triple H was put in charge of talent relations and creative, he would soon re-hire the impressive big man, who now finally looks set to become a prominent part of the roster.
