Three months ago, WWE’s Asuka underwent surgery, having suffered a knee injury prior to WrestleMania XL. Unfortunately, it was then confirmed that she would miss the rest of 2024. However, in some much-needed positive news for fans of the Japanese wrestler, PWInsider.com has reported that the 42-year-old has committed her long-term future to the company by signing a new multi-year contract.

Asuka, real name Kanako Urai, signed a WWE developmental deal in 2015 and was almost immediately presented as a star in NXT thanks to a winning streak that would top Goldberg’s. Yet, while some believe it wasn’t legitimate, as she had previously been eliminated from a battle royal and had also failed to win a fatal four-way match, WWE continued to present her as undefeated until her defeat to Charlotte Flair at WrestleMania 34. Still, despite such a high-profile loss, she didn’t lose any momentum and would go on to become the third Women’s Triple Crown Champion and the second Women’s Grand Slam Champion.
