While he was never treated as a main event-level talent in WWE, Shane Helms, better known as The Hurricane and Hurricane Helms, was constantly over with fans. Therefore, this has seen the 50-year-old signed to a Legends Contact, meaning he still appears in video games and has merchandise produced. Yet, despite his lasting popularity, he still hasn’t been inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame, and after being asked about this on X , the former WWE Cruiserweight Championship reasoned it is because “ this biz notoriously discredits people that utilized comedy .”

“No doubt in my mind either. But this biz notoriously discredits people that utilized comedy, even at the level of success that I had. The tough guy act, which is the simplest and easiest to do, gets all the praise. The marks aren’t always just in the crowd.”

Helms broke into the business in 1991 at the age of just 17, and after gaining experience, he signed with WCW in 1999, where he was made a member of 3 Count alongside Shannon Moore and Evan Karagias. Subsequently, he joined WWE after Vince McMahon purchased his completion in 2001 and was memorably repackaged as a superhero character, later being partnered with Roman Reign’s elder brother Rosey. However, his career would, unfortunately, be hampered by injury due to his requiring neck fusion surgery in 2007 and suffering a broken leg in 2011, which played a part in him effectively retiring in 2019.
