Janes Addiction Concert Ends In Onstage Fight

Earlier this week, Jane’s Addiction singer Perry Farrell apparently had issues with his voice during a concert at the Rooftop at Pier 17 in New York City.  “ Ladies and gentlemen, I have to be honest with you. Something’s wrong with my voice,” Farrell said. “I just can’t get the notes out all of a sudden.”

The next day, Jane’s Addiction bassist Eric Avery posted to Instagram: “Looking forward to getting another crack at this spectacular rooftop venue tonight. I’m optimistic we will be better.” YouTube videos earlier in the week appeared to show Farrell off his game.

On Friday, the band was performing at the Leader Bank Pavilion in Boston when things went even more awry. Farrell was reportedly having a rough night. During the end of the set, Farrell got in guitarist Dave Navarro’s face and lashed out at him. A visibly confused Navarro put up a hand to Farrell’s chest, and the singer appeared to throw a punch at him. A roadie and Avery stepped in to hold an irate Farrell back, and they forced the singer offstage.

After he was gone, the rest of the band stepped to the edge of the stage, hugged, and showed their appreciation to the crowd. Avery recently told Guitar World: “I still don’t know if we’re a band that you ever assume will be here a year from now. That being said, yeah … there is a revitalization and a reconnection. Let’s hope it lasts.”

Video of the troubling incident can be viewed below. Another post via X reported: “Problems started in ‘Mountain Song'”‘ when Perry shouted at Dave. Issues got worse in ‘Three Days’ + boiled over in ‘Ocean Size.'”
