KISS frontman Paul Stanley appeared recently on Billboard’s “Behind the Setlist” podcast . Stanley described the many reactions the band has received over the years.

“I think it’s been treated — well, it runs the gamut. I think people who don’t understand it or haven’t understood it or for whatever self-serving reasons have looked down their nose at it have been far, far overwhelmed and eclipsed by the people who love what we do.”

He continued: “So the people who dismissed it or haven’t understood it, quite frankly, they’ve missed out. I find it puzzling that anybody could have a vehement response to a band or performer. It’s just — that goes Psychology 101. ‘Whoa, what’s your problem?'”

Stanley also referenced the fact that KISS plan to continue into the future as digital avatars. “People say, ‘Well, what are you gonna do when you stop?’ Well, the band will never stop. Because we don’t own the band. The fans own the band. The world owns the band. I mean, we’ve spent 50 years building it to this point. We’ve always thought of ourselves as more than just a music band. What we’ve accomplished has been amazing, but it’s not enough. The band deserves to live on because the band is bigger than we are. It’s exciting for us to go the next step and see KISS immortalized.”
