William Regal Responds To WWE Fan Who Thanked Him For “Snaking Out” AEW

After being released by WWE, Tony Khan gave William Regal a chance to continue his career in the big leagues. However, when Triple H gained hiring power in WWE, he wanted to bring back his former one-time WCW tag partner and close friend. Obviously, this was a complicated situation as Regal had plenty of time remaining on his AEW contract, although Khan would still grant him his release as he understood Regal wanted to work alongside his son, Charlie Dempsey, who is in NXT.

Yet, while this has all long since blown over, having taken place in late 2022, Regal has now felt the need to defend himself on X after a WWE fan thanked him for “ snaking out the competition. ” In his long reply, Regal would reveal he only joined AEW due to Bryan Danielson asking him, and his focus was on training talents, and he purposely avoided production meetings nor asked anyone’s contract status.

56-year-old Regal was a prominent performer in AEW, and he notably established the Blackpool Combat Club as a top stable before turning on them to align with MJF. However, it was a massive surprise when he was initially let go by WWE, with most fans thinking he was as likely as anyone to be a WWE lifer. Therefore, given his son working there, his relationship with Triple H, and his known love of the company, his desire to return was understandable, with only AEW diehards holding it against him.
