Tattoo Artist Who Sued Over Randy Orton’s Body Art Suffers Huge Disappointment

In 2018, tattoo artist Catherine Alexander filed a lawsuit against WWE and Take-Two Interactive, and their multiple partners over Randy Orton’s tattoo usage in WWE’s 2K video games. She believed that as she designed and inked them, she should be paid, yet when she went to WWE to request compensation, they offered her just $450. Therefore, Alexander sued, and while she won, she was only awarded $3750 in damages, which is likely much less than she’d hoped for.

And now, in yet another blow to Alexander, PWInsider.com has reported that after the defendants filed for a summary judgment, a judge has ruled that she will not receive any payment. This is because she couldn’t present evidence regarding what the tattoos were worth, nor prove that she lost customers by the tattoos being featured in the game. Whether Alexander will appeal remains unknown, although it may be throwing good money after bad at this point.

“So, while Alexander was victorious, she did not exit with a massive monetary judgment – and after yesterday’s ruling, she will not receive any financial damages.”

At the time of the initial judgment, some people were surprised Alexander had even won because Take-Two Interactive Software had earlier triumphed in a case based on the tattoos of NBA stars LeBron James, Eric Bledsoe, and Kenyon Martin. In that instance, it was concluded that the tattoos weren’t close enough to the players’ genuine tattoo designs since they were far smaller than they were in real life and were hard to distinguish due to the players’ motions during the games.
